How We Work

What to Expect
When You Call GISCO

No surprises. No pressure. Just a clear, honest process from first contact to finished job.

From First Call to Finished Job

01

You Call or Submit a Request

You call (502) 584-7349, the toll-free line (888) 817-7349, or fill out our online form. You get a real person — not a call center, not an automated system.

We'll ask you a few questions about your project: what you're experiencing, what type of property it is, and what you've already tried. The goal is to understand your situation before we schedule anything.

02

We Schedule an On-Site Assessment

For most residential and commercial projects, we schedule an on-site assessment before providing a quote. This isn't a sales visit — it's a diagnostic visit.

Tony personally conducts assessments. He'll inspect your attic, crawlspace, walls, or mechanical systems depending on your project. He uses a flashlight, a moisture meter, and his 41 years of experience — not just a quick look from the access point.

For large industrial projects, we may request drawings or specifications before scheduling a site visit.

03

Honest Assessment & Written Estimate

After the assessment, you get an honest answer: what's there, what's wrong with it (if anything), what we recommend, and why. If your insulation is adequate and your problem is something else, we'll tell you that.

If work is recommended, you receive a written estimate with a clear scope of work, materials, and pricing. No hidden fees. No vague line items.

We don't use high-pressure sales tactics. If you need time to think, take it.

04

Scheduling & Preparation

Once you approve the estimate, we schedule the work at a time that works for you. For residential work, we'll tell you exactly what to expect on the day of installation — whether you need to be home, what areas will be affected, and how long the job will take.

For commercial and industrial projects, we coordinate with your facility management team to minimize disruption to operations.

05

Installation

We show up when we say we will. We protect your home or facility during the work. We install the correct materials using correct techniques.

We don't cut corners on material quality or installation method. Insulation installed incorrectly — wrong material, wrong thickness, wrong technique — doesn't perform as advertised. We install it right.

06

Final Walkthrough & Follow-Up

When the work is complete, we walk through it with you. We show you what was done, explain what to expect in terms of performance, and answer any questions.

If you have any concerns after the job is complete, call us. We stand behind our work.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a residential insulation job take?

Most residential attic insulation jobs take 4–8 hours. Larger projects, crawlspace work, or jobs requiring removal first will take longer. We'll give you a realistic time estimate when we provide the quote.

Do I need to be home during the installation?

For attic work, you don't need to be present during the installation, but we do need access to the attic entry point. For crawlspace or interior work, someone should be available. We'll discuss this when scheduling.

How much insulation do I actually need?

The Department of Energy recommends R-38 to R-60 for attics in Louisville's climate zone. What you need depends on what you have, your home's construction, and your goals. We measure what's there and recommend what's appropriate — not the maximum we can sell you.

What's the difference between blown-in and batt insulation?

Blown-in insulation (cellulose or fiberglass) is installed using a machine that blows loose material into place. It fills gaps and covers joists evenly. Batt insulation comes in pre-cut sections and is installed between framing members. Each has appropriate applications — we'll recommend the right type for your situation.

Can you work around my schedule for commercial projects?

Yes. For commercial and industrial projects, we coordinate with your operations team to schedule work during off-hours, shutdowns, or periods of reduced activity. We've worked in operating facilities for 41 years — we understand how to minimize disruption.

Do you provide documentation for tax credits or utility rebates?

Yes. We provide documentation of the insulation type, R-value, and square footage installed, which is required for federal tax credits and utility rebate programs. We can help you understand what documentation you need.
